nice spec but I honestly doubt you'll get that much for it - disco Is are
gogin very cheap now which is great if you're looking to buy but not so good
otherwise.

You have the advantages of spec and FSH and so on, which should help it.
They're not going that high on ebay, though, even fully loaded ones.

It must be worth 6000 to 7500 to anyone looking for such a nice sounding
and genuine vehicle. It is only just over seven years old and half worn. I
have not looked up the book value but if I was in the market for one it
would figure high in my list of ones to view.

Even with AutoTrader showing any number of comparable examples at
4-5K?

It sounds like a lovely car, and well worth 7500. But market forces
means it is, IMHO, highly unlikely to get near to that.

I'd disagree Huw, I shopped around and bought an immaculate DII 4.0V8 XSi
with a whole load of factory fitted extras, genuine 28k miles, "X" plate,
for just slightly over 10k a few months ago. My gut feeling is that Austin
is correct with his comments, great for buyers but not sellers.

V8 is worth a good deal less of course (about enough to pay for a gas
conversion as I read it). Yours is the D2 as well, which is rather
better in some areas than the 300 series.

When we were looking around for a disco 1 it took about 4 months to find a
good one. on ebay there is alot of rubbish. i think people think because it
a landie its worth the money. we eventually got a 96 300tdi 80k on clock for
four thousand. i would have paid 5k because looking at dealers they have
comparable cars for 6k . well pleased with it.

That is the whole point Tim, I take the point re. diesel values against
petrol, but it shows the price that DII's can be picked up for if you shop
around, meaning that a D1 is obviously going to be considerably less by
virtue of the fact that it's an older model. The upper price being quoted
(7.5k) is, I feel, a bit optomistic for the quoted mileage of 104,000, I've
seen early TD5's go for only a little more (8.5-9k) with similar (110k)
miles. I feel that 6.5k should be achievable though, and to be honest anyone
paying over that simply hasn't shopped around well enough. I wish the seller
all the best of luck in securing a deal, but lets face it, there's a lot of
luck involved in getting the right deal these days and a lot of deals out
there to search through, in fact, what with ebay etc it's never been easier
to hunt a good used vehicle.
Badger.
