When connecting the water pipes from the engine to the heater matrix, will
the water flow into the top of the matrix and then back out the bottom pipe?
Also, on a 1990 3.9V8, should the water flow back from the heater through
the metal pipe over the engine head with the filler tower on?

The inlet hose is the lower one on the engine. The outlet from the engine
is the left-hand one (sitting in the drivers seat looking forward).
