Land Rover boost
From the Canberra Times
The arrival of the new Range Rover and the revamped Discovery (with its front end styling which mimics the RR) are expected to boost Land Rover's sales in North America by 70 per cent this year.
Last year Land Rover sold 27,204 vehicles in the US. This year US sales should reach 46,000, with 100,000 predicted within the next four years.
Ford wants its Premier Automotive Group brands of Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo to generate a third of its profits by 2005 and sees LR as offering particular growth potential.
Demand for the new Range Rover has been strong in the US, with about 3000 advance orders placed before the vehicle went on sale on June 1.
Priced at just under $US70,000 ($A130,000), the Range Rover is one of the most expensive sports utility vehicles on the US market.
