New Range Rover Autobiography Launched
Canary Wharf, London, 10 June 2002 – Land Rover launched its 'Autobiography' personalisation programme for the new Range Rover today with two vehicles revealing a range of special features including special paint work, unique veneers, hand finished leather seats and a mobile theatre system with TV and DVD and a 'Logic 7' sound system.
One of the Range Rovers is finished in 'Spectral Red' chromaflare paint that gives the appearance of a different hue depending on the viewing angle, while the other sports 'British Racing Green' coachwork. The 'Spectral Red' Range Rover features a leather trimmed interior in 'Jet' black with 'Grand Black Lacquer' wood veneer while the British Racing Green example has duo tone Aspen and Ivory seating with a Vavona Burl Amber wood package. Both vehicles are also fitted with the mobile theatre system.
The full 'Autobiography' programme, managed by Land Rover Special Vehicles, includes a palette of 25 special colours, including two chromaflare shades, a colour keyed body kit and ten new interior leather trim colourways. Perforated leather seat panels are available and the leather trim includes the lower dash, glove box lid and centre console sides. Four new wood veneers are also available to complement the interior.
In-car entertainment systems available under the 'Autobiography' programme include the TV/DVD system that features twin 8.5-inch screens built into the back of the front seats. The system includes a six disc auto changer and is fully versatile in that one rear seat passenger can be watching a TV programme while the other enjoys a movie. The 'Logic 7' sound system was developed specially for the 'Autobiography' programme by harman/kardon and features 14 speakers and a sub-woofer specially tuned to the acoustic characteristics of the new Range Rover. The TV/DVD and 'Logic 7' sound systems can be combined to form an in-car mobile theatre.
To enhance security Land Rover Supaglass is also available as part of the 'Autobiography' programme – this high technology coating offers protection against attempted break-ins and prevents broken glass falling into the passenger compartment. Security against greater threats is offered by the Range Rover Protected Vehicle.
Commenting on the new 'Autobiography' programme, Mike Wright, managing director of Land Rover UK said: 'With its wide range of options, the 'Autobiography' programme enables customers of the new Range Rover to place their own personal imprint on their vehicle. The standards of the hand-finished craftsmanship are the highest in the motor industry and features such as the mobile theatre concept move in-car entertainment to a new, higher plane.'
