OT: Animal cruelty - live shark bait

I know that all you ruffy-tuffy LR people are not without hearts. I saw
loads of dogs attached to LR people at Malvern. Hell, I think dog ownership
must be a qualification for Landy ownership. I just had this brought to my
attention. Live cats & dogs are being used as sharkbait. I'll spare you any
more gory details - I can't bear to look.

Please sign the online RSPCA petition.

http://www.rspca.org.uk/servlet/Sate...t&pg=sharkbait

Signatures do not have to be UK based. The link is incredibly slow at the
moment - I hope it's because so
many people are trying to sign - but please be patient.

I was trying to read your post over the top of one of my cats (17 years old)
that was attacking the curser!! Perhaps he had read it too.
Petition signed and your post forwarded to all my pet owning friends.

I sometimes despair of humanity.

Then again, I wonder how many of the signatories had chicken for
lunch...

's one thing killing chickens to eat 'em, another thing using live animals
as sharkbait, mind. I've no problem with the former - the latter seems
unnecessarily cruel.

the point is, the dogs have a life, then they die an unpleasant death.

most chickens (and lots of other animals) are born to suffer, never
have 'life' and then die an unpleasant death.

neither is necessary. neither is justifiable. that was my point.

I eat lots of meat, but I'm fussier than most about how it lives and
how it dies.

Agree entirely.

We probably differ on that, but it's all about defining 'senseless'.

But why is it?

I'm no animal lover in any degree, but that is truly ****ing disgusting
behaviour from the ultimate predator (I don't mean the shark, as they
aren't)

How ANYONE can do that to a live animal is beyond me.

Mind you, a maggot is a living creature killed for
sport................................

Not that I support or reject fishing.

There's ever such a slight difference between humane slaughter in a
controlled manner and sticking a hook through a dogs nose and dangling
it in the sea - if you can't see that, God help you.
