Overlander 4WD magazine has announced Australia's most prestigious 4WD award. The Overlander 4WD Of The Year for 2002 is the Range Rover SE Td6.
An exhaustive test process to decide the winner took place over some of the most challenging terrain Australia has to offer - from Outback New South Wales to the Victorian High Country. The battle for the title saw the five short-listed vehicles truly put through their paces by the experienced judging panel.
Overlander 4WDOTY, with 23 years of history behind it, is Australia's most prestigious 4WD award.
Editor Mathieu Raudonikis said, "It was an even closer decision for 2002 than in previous years. Each of the short-listed vehicles were very good in their own way, but when all of the judging criteria were applied to the vehicles, the Range Rover Td6 came out on top.
"The Td6 is a truly exceptional vehicle. It terms of luxury and performance, both on- and off-road, there's nothing on the market today that offers such a complete package. The combination of class-leading safety features, economical turbo-diesel engine and impeccable on- and off-road manners add up to make a 4WD that is clearly deserving of the Overlander 4WDOTY award."
Range Rover SE Td6 was announced as winner over a strong field of contenders this year, which included stablemate Range Rover HSE V8, Toyota LandCruiser Sahara TD, Toyota LandCruiser GXL V8 and Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed DiD.
The Range Rover Td6 was named Overlander 4WDOTY in a ceremony held at The Boatshed Café, La Parouse on Tuesday, January 21st, which featured Les Hiddins, the Bush Tucker Man, as guest speaker for the event.
The full Overlander 4WDOTY report can be found in the February 2003 edition of Overlander 4WD magazine.
