series 3" lift

Hi all
I have just put new shackle plates on the back of my series 3
that are 3 inches longer than standard to give me one and a half inch lift
on the axle
at the moment i still
have standard shocks on the back but hope to get some extra travel shocks
from billing next week

The problem is now when start to slow down the prop shaft now makes a
horrible (out of whack) sort of noise

every thing seems to be ok underneath ie: UJ's good and all bolts done up

any ideas

Various things come to mind.......

The angle between the UJs is now to great. You may need to
get some angled shims to sort it out. The shims fit between
the spring saddles on the axle and the springs. You'll need
some new U bolts probably and a longer centre bolt for
the springs to hold the shims in place.

If you've still got the std shocks you may be fully extending
those as well as the vehicle drops its nose as you decelerate.
That would give some nice crunchy noises.

Apart from lifting the chassis I'm not sure what longer shackles
do - they dont really give you anymore ground clearance -
ie diff to ground. May improve entry and departure angles
by a degree or two. You can fit a larger diameter tyre to
get more real ground clearance, but even that has its limits.
