Watch out!! Scammers About!

Just got this email from a bloke who contacted me about my RR forsale on
difflock....
What the ****!!

Thanks for the mail.I am so glad to read from you and i really appreciate
your quick response,i will not be able to come for the look but you can
email me pics, also the price is very okay and reasonble with me. I will
like to bring to your notice a quick reminder on the method of payment and
shipping. Nevertheless, this business requires honesty and transparency hope
i will be able to trust you with my money. However, my freight forwarder
who'll be coming to your location to pick it up ,has sent me an email, that
they are ready for the pickup anytime, before they will be coming for the
pick up also i have contacted my client to issue you the payment he will
issue you the payment which as the Total sum of £3000. in which you will
have to deduct the money for the Range Rover and the excess funds will be
deposietd to the shipping company who will be coming for the pick up from
your place Via Western Union Money Transfer. Once they have payment they
will be coming for the pick up from your place. without the funds they will
not be able to make all necessary arrangement for the pick up. If this is
OK, get back to me with your contact details as follows:
1. Name:As it should be written on the check.
2. Address:
3. Cell phone Number and Home Phone Number:
So that the payment can be done soon. Your prompt response will be
highly appreciated.
Thanks and God bless you,
Regards.
Perry..

Bye Bye Perry!!

Run away, not quickly but super sonically.

Of course you could always play him like the fish he thinks you are.

If the 3k is enough, or more than you actually offered the RR for sale, then
I'd be tempted to take and deposit the payment ... then stall for a few
weeks to make sure it's cleared properly, play him at his own game ...
You'll soon know if it's a scam ...

No you wont. It can take six months for a cheque to bounce.

It can take anytime - a cheque never actually "clears" in the sense
that non-banking types in the real world understand it. And the
bank can withrdaw the money from your account without notice, and
without your consent, at any time, without a thought of the consequences
to you - all because *they* made a mistake. Nice people.

Indeed, on the other hand, you can beat the banks (on rare occasions)
One of our International customers sent a bank transfer for £400 for
some Heart rate monitors. Great, cleared funds no reprisals.

Goods sent.

3 weeks later the bank made another transfer for £400 less £8 charges.

Customer hadn't authorised 2nd transfer.
