JAGUAR ANNOUNCES 2005 MODEL YEAR LINE-UP

The Auto Channel

Hot on the heels of news that Jaguar was the highest ranked European luxury car maker and third overall in J.D. Power’s 2004 Initial Quality Study comes a strengthened 2005 model product line up offering significant enhancements to all four Jaguar model ranges – X-TYPE, S-TYPE, XJ and XK.

In 2004, the all-new, aluminum intensive Jaguar XJ sedan was introduced and in 2005, the luxury sedan stretches to new lengths with the addition of three new XJ Long Wheelbase models. Expanding the range from three to five derivatives, the new XJ Long Wheelbase models are the biggest Jaguars yet produced but possess the same nimble driving dynamics of the two standard wheelbase models that remain in the 2005 XJ range.

The 2005 Jaguar X-TYPE premium compact range gets a more distinctive Sport model for ‘05. The new Sport model now adopts a more distinctive and athletic bodystyle to match its performance oriented features. Sports-tuned suspension, deep front spoiler and optional sleek carbon fiber trim paired with contemporary Alcantara™ seat fabric freshen the entire attitude of the car. Those looking for enhanced luxury and technology will prefer the X-TYPE VDP edition with premium sound system, dual stage heated seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, rich Burl Walnut interior trim and more.

The mid premium segment Jaguar S-TYPE continues to catch admiring glances with stylish looks that are updated for 2005. Look for a new rear design that visually 'lifts' the tail section, a lightweight aluminum hood and tighter fit lines all round as this car is further honed into a segment leader. Greater choice is also added with the addition of a new luxury VDP edition model and the available option of an aluminum fascia design in lieu of traditional wood. The mighty 390bhp S-TYPE R is also reduced to less than $60,000 as it lines up the normally aspirated V8 competitor brands in its cross hairs.

Rounding out the 2005 line-up, the iconic Jaguar XK sports car range has received attention from the pen of the Jaguar design team in Coventry retaining the basic character of the coupe and convertible XK8/XKR but adding a more modern theme. These new ‘05 XKs fine-tune a design that has been in market for eight years proving the 'rightness' of their original design. The 2005 XKs are now more assertive and stand out by adopting more aggressive accents while a convenient new automatic speed limiter feature becomes standard fit on all models.

A more detailed, at-a-glace list of the key features and changes to the 2005 Jaguar model line can be found on the following pages. Photography of the 2005 S-TYPE, XJ and XK is available on our media Web site at www.media.jaguar.com. The 2005 X-TYPE photography is not yet available, however, we will notify you when it is posted.

The full-line 2005 Jaguar press kits will be distributed in August, but in the meantime, this should provide you with the basic information you need.
