1964 Transmission conversion
I am trying to piece together a package for my old 1964 Ford Meteor .The reason I call it a Ford Meteor is that it was built in Canada in 1964 when USA dropped the Meteor. It came with ford running gear and a complete ford interior. It has no Mercury logos on it anywhere, just meteor logs and Ford on the door sill plates.I found all this info about this carfrom an on line search. It has the original 352 engine and a standard 3 on the tree.I would like to install a 4 speed tranny .I have one from a granada which is the overdrive 4 speed but was wondering if there is something more practical out therelike a five speed that will bolt in.I have the proper bell housing for the 70"s era trannys but don't know what the newer styles take or if they will even work in such a big car.I am trying to gain gas milage and at the same time keep it a fun cruiser. Thanks for the help.
