Is anybody running a 5.0 on LPG im looking at converting mine
Just wondering what sort of fuel economy your getting ?
whats the preformance like ? any other issue's i need to consider before going head
smadz_302 on here is running his ED Fairmont V8 on LPG, i'd speak to him about it.
also, he did a few runs @ heathcote a few months back so he'd have some figures to compare against :)

I ran LPG on mine till recently but didn't like it at all. Fuel economy on gas was terrible (only around 250-300km a tank). This was probably due to it's setup but I had it at a few gas places and there were no problems. Anyway with my new engine setup, it could no longer run the stock gas setup so it was ditched. I am sure on a stock 5.0L a properly setup gas system would be quite economical.
if ur gonna covert to LPG, make it a dedicated LPG engine. that way you can finely tune it to get more power than you would running straight petrol or duel fuel.

soon to come.......BA XR8
I got a NF Fairlane V8, duel fuel. Done 100,000 k's with no problems, don't need any valve lube setup, the engine has induction hardened valve seats, that should do.
There is bugger all performance difference between petrol and gas, no matter what people say about it.
There may be 1 - 2% difference, and if anyone can notice 1 or 2 percent, they had better stop taking the pills.
I get about 15L/100 on gas, I worked out my total fuel costs for last year at 8c/kilometre. Then again, I don't drive like an idiot.
I bought the car with the gas installed, if I was doing it, I would probably go all gas, and ditch the petrol setup. If you run 100% gas, I don't think you are compelled to run a cat convertor, but not real sure on that one.
cheers

15/100 is pretty good on the V8.
i get the same on my EF I6, performance wise there is a difference, though, i can't "feel" it.
its been proven on the 1/4 mile.
.5 second difference on runs, quikcorty can say the same too.
i still beleive its well worth it though :D

yeah my 5.0 V8 is on gas. I bought the car with it on already but I dunno if i'de fork out the cash to get it done. If you work out what you will save it will take you about 3-4 years to get the money back. I find i don't get as good mileage out of my gas as I do with petrol. Get about 350-400kms off a tank of LPG. (and that's a 108Ltr tank under parcel shelf too!) but it only costs about $25 - $30 to fill (80ltr - 80%)
I converted my first car and wouldn't recommend forking out the money to do it.
I ran 16.4 on petrol and 17.0 on gas at heathcote but when i did the gas run I stuffed up and half way down the track backed off the gas then floored it again.
so there is not much difference performance wise no matter what people say AS LONG AS YOU KEEP IT TUNED! Depends also what system you get. Mine was fitted by ford. Weigh up the pro's and con's cos you do lose a lot of boot space and you can piss off the use of your split fold rear seat too!
hope i was some help
cheers
smadz.
P.S. there some pics of my car at my website below.
