hi all,

anyone have any experience/knowledge or recommendations in converting a 302 ZH to run on LPG only?

I'm looking to do this to my car and am in the need for information about what to look for in someone who does the conversion, what type of tank, ie size etc.

As a final question, my ZH is currently usng the stupid anti-pollution stuff on the motor, can i legally disable this when i convert to gas only?

dont be fooled u can convert your car to gas your self but not recomended if u havent had any experiance with lpg conversions the emissions shit can go over the shoulder when on gas dizzy needs to be re grafed best done on a dyno if a lpg fitter is doing the job make sure thay have a ticket and ask to see some of there work check for neatness of wireing pipe work ect .. its a shame ppl charge so much for something so simple.. u might be able to save some $$$ by fitting the mixer converter and tank your self and have them do the wireing and plumbing

Where are you located zh owner?

I know of a good gas mechanic in Perth who is going to fit a new tank to my existing duel fuel set up

Tank size is critical if you want to keep your car original, as the boot springs hang down low, right where the tank goes.
Some places dont give a stuff and will want to chop these out to fit the tank

Just talk to whoever you take it to, they should have all tank sizes available on hand to work out which is best for you

Suggested alterations:

1: regraph distributor

2: fit LPG cam

3: Have heads converted to LPG. i.e.: valve seats hardened.

4: Have bronze guides fitted.

5: fit extractors to make up for some of the lost power.

6: if you are really serious, contact Gasresearch here in Melbourne. Much better than just a carb. setup

i have a syatem for you including straight gas carb tank, mixer etc and i can fit a cam extractors and anything else you like. i owned 2 zh's which i have both had on gas and can fit it in your car for a good price
