LPG tax to be introduced.

A grab from todays Fin Review re the Budget last night:-

"The surprise tax cuts overshadowed a budget containing new spending on defence and national security, sweeping reforms to higher education (which could mean students paying up to 30 per cent more for some courses), changes to the international tax regime and major changes to energy taxation, including LPG to be brought into the tax net for the first time. As I hear this new buget, they are cutting income tax by about $200-500, and then they screw us over even more in another way.

LPG has always been excise free, under an exemption that had a long standing sunset clause i.e was always to be abolished in 2005.
However, I believe that will be extended, for various reasons, and LPG will remain excise free

Our Government will never ever loose money, it's a simple case of give with one hand and take with the other.

LPG is tax free, but as more and more people use it, less and less people use petrol, as there is a tax on petrol the government is loosing money. simple solution, tax LPG.

The use of LPG is actually on the decline, not on the up swing, again for various reasons.
Its no danger to fuel based revenues at the moment

The Budget hasn't been passed through the Senate yet.

I think I will get on to my local Senator, er, er, haven't a clue who he/she is. Anybody know who their local Senator is?
