Sometime ago my engine started to make a pinging sound when started in the morning. After a few minutes the ping would go away. As the days went by the ping was lasting longer. All this time I thought it was a Ford engine defect. I decided to take the Edge to the Ford dealer. To make a long story short the service department determined that an Oil Filter had come apart and was clogging the oil passage ways. Up to that date and for about a year I had been taking the Edge to a Jiffy Lube for oil changes.
The service department flushed the oil passage ways and my engine went back to normal.
I of course had to pay a considerable sum for the repair because this issue had voided my warranty.
The moral of the story is have your service done at the Ford Dealer.
