02 Focus 2.0 Zetec died at 55 mph and won't start - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi, I'm new here but have a problem. On the way to work the other morning my 02 Focus died and would not restart and hasnt run since. It has a 2.0L Zetec with about 145k on it. Not sure what to use to check fuel pressure since I couldnt find a spot for it so I unhooked the line and turned the key on. It pumped fuel out pretty fast so My guess is it has fuel pressure. the rail was full when I disconnected it. It has spark. I poured a little fuel down the throttle body (not alot) and still nothing. I compression tested it cold. 50 psi on all cylinders (engine cold and added no oil). Was wondering if anyone had any ideas. It turns over fine but will not fire. It had a service engine light on for a awhile but didnt have the time to mess with it and it ran fine until then. Also hooked up to my code reader (i bought yesterday) and got 3 codes. #1) P0171 -systen too lean bank1 #2) P1288 -temp sensor out of range #3)P1709 -park nuetral position switch out of range. Any ideas what could be making it not run?

50 psi compression is wayy to low did you overheat the motor.
Sounds like you may have done the head or something.

Never gotten hot as long as I've owned it. I thought that was pretty low myself and it's about the same on all cylinders.

Forgot to mention it seemed a little sluggish that morning before it left me walking too. And actually It had been overcooling which I figured the thermostat was stuck wide open.

Checked timing belt isn't worn and maybe jumped ?

Now I'm thinking that's what mat have happened. It ran fine before and it happened sudden. I haven't torn into it yet and probably won't now for sometime since I have so much other stuff going on lately. I have another vehicle to drive in the mean time. I just wasnt sure if there could be something else more simple causing it. Thanks for your input guys!
