I have a 98 AU Fairmont wagon and both front inner side of each tyre is wearing considerably. I was told by a tyre fitter that it looks like suspension related??
Can anyone give me some suggestions to what might be the problem?
Cheers.
If it wears quickly, I'd suspect toe-in problems. Maybe tie-rod ends loose. If it was camber and they wore quickly, you'd see a noticeable lean in at the top of the tyre.
with your au it could be the toe in as bert said also lower ball joints or inner control arm bushes. Also another fix is a little less camber to do this you will need a camber kit fitted to the top control arms.
As an added extra run your tyres at 36 psi all the time on the front and about 34 on the rear.
check for any movment in ball joints mainly lower ones up and down also crab the wheel at 3 and 9 and see if any losseness is fault in tie rods or rack ends.
