Hey guys i hope i can get some info here.

I have looked on forums for ages and only just had a "BING" ford forums haha..
Well i picked up a ford EL 98 4L straight 6 Auto fairly cheap to do up as my first car..
But. put the key in the barrel and it will only turn the the first position no further. (odd or common??)
the interior light works the head lights work fine can change gears, the smart lock light is flashing 1/1/1 (I believe armed?)
I have tested the batter and also tried another brand new one of a mates car, and also have left the key in the ignition in the on position for a hour (Apparently reprograms the key)

So im stumped, is this a smart lock issue? or the actual barrel thats dead?

Thanks for any help given i really wan't get this car going.

if the key only turns to the first spot then it is the barrell assy playing up try some wd40 in the lock if that does not work you will need another one.

i only have one key to try sadly... but ill give wd40 a shot today thanks for the advice.

Try a new coded key from Mr Minute. Take your old key in to copy the codes across.

ef el keys are not coded except for the wayy it is cut.if it only turns to first spot it is jamming.

The smart lock part of the lock is internal in the barrell and generates the frequency in there not from the key.

Try and see if the key looks worn or damaged. You may only need a new key.
