Stolen From Wintersun 2008

XA GT Coupe replica stolen last night on the Gold Coast. Keep eyes open for it and even reward for it.

Listed on another site.

It is an XA GT Replica Wild plum in colour.

It was stolen from Tugan at San Simeon resort between 12pm last night and 4am this morning.

it was not driven out it was jacked on skates and on the back of some sort of truck.

Surely someone has seen someting down that way just not sure where is the best place to post stuff as not really computer literate.

Any help would be appreciated my ph no is 0412 515 871 if any one has any ideas or knowledge of her whereabouts.

Thanks
Rob

muscle in on classic carsSarah Vogler

ALL car lover Rob Anderson has left of his $300,000 classic Ford are the keys and the severed seat belts thieves used to tow it away during an overnight robbery at Coolangatta at the weekend.

The 1971 zircon green XY GT Ford Falcon was one of three Wintersun-related iconic muscle cars stolen and the owners believe the thieves watched them before stealing their pride and joys and may have been working from a shopping list for a private collector.

The first classic car was stolen before its owners even made it to the festival.

Have your say on the feedback form below

Glen and Laurie Hamilton were driving their $55,000 1970 HT GTS vedoro green and gold-striped Holden Monaro from Rockhampton to Coolangatta on Monday, June 3, when they stopped in at a friend's house at Tewantin on the Sunshine Coast.

They parked it in the driveway of their friend's home about 4pm and awoke next morning to find it gone.

Amazingly a neighbour had watched the thieves at work but did not call police.

They broke in through the window and then stole another car to tow it away.

"I was devastated," said Mr Hamilton. "It was part of our family."

He and his wife printed hundreds of flyers of their car and continued down to Wintersun hoping someone may have seen it.

Three days later, fellow Wintersun festival-goer Rob Hohnke's $100,000 1973 wild plum XA Ford replica coupe he had owned for three years was also stolen.

It was parked in the car park of a Tugun resort in Golden Four Drive on Friday evening.

"It was in a gated, secure car park," said Mr Hohnke.

"I parked it about 7.30pm I came back at 6am and it was gone."

The 36-year-old from Brisbane had parked it there after returning from a cruise with other Wintersun festival-goers.

Mr Hohnke believes someone saw his car and followed him home before waiting for the right moment to steal it. "I was just shocked," he said. "I couldn't even believe it.

"I've only slept three or four hours since."

Then, on Sunday, Mr Anderson experienced the heartbreak.

The 56-year-old, from Narrabri in NSW, was still struggling to talk about the theft of his beloved GT Ford Falcon yesterday.

"I just felt sick," he said.

The car was stolen overnight on Saturday from the secure car park at the Coolangatta resort they had been staying at. He had shown it at Wintersun during the day before driving to the resort and parking it about 4.30pm.

"That's the last time I saw it," he said.

He also believes the thieves were watching him before stealing the car.

"That night I felt a little uneasy," he said.

"I kept going over to the window.

"I just had a funny feeling.

"I was telling my wife on Sunday morning and she said 'I'll just go down (to the car park) and check to make sure everything's OK'.

"Then I heard her running back up the stairs."

He called the police who found a stolen Holden Commodore nearby with his Falcon's seat belts still attached to the tow bar.

"They were my seat belts. I know because I put them in," he said.

It is believed the thieves used the Commodore to tow his Falcon to a waiting tow truck.

Mr Anderson says he believes the thieves planned to ship his car out of the country as it would be hard to on-sell in Australia.

"It was one of only two made in that colour (zircon green)," he said.

But he said there was a possibility the thieves planned to strip his and the other two classic cars for their parts.

Coolangatta police are investigating and are looking into whether the thefts are linked.

Three other cars were also reported stolen in the area including an $8000 Holden Commodore belonging to Brisbane man Jamie Swift.

Mr Swift had also attended the Wintersun festival.

Wintersun organiser Barry McNamara said he felt for the owners, who have vowed not to return to the festival.

"It's bloody awful," he said of the thefts.

"Sadly when you put on events ... it does attract an element of thieves.

"What we'll try and do is raise awareness."

Police are appealing for anyone with information on their cars to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
