transmission noise au falcon

Hi there,

I have a 2001 falcon forte windsor v8 automatic, and have had it very long and i have noticed a slight whining noise like a remote control car and only in first gear, so every time i accelerate from the lights and then the noise stops when 2nd kicks in, mind you there is no noticeable performance issue it runs very nice.
The only time i can hear the same noise just not as lound only lound enough to hear when you turn the radio off and you listen for it when i take my foot off the accelerater and let it run on with no power then when I put the foot back on it goes.
I have had the tranny oil toped up and have taken it to a tranny specialist they hooked it up to the computer and found no error codes and took it for a drive and said they the can't find a problem.
So I am stumped does anyone heard or had this before or is it quite normal for a car that has done 160000 ks.

Wouldn't worry about it , especially as yo've had a diagnostic done and had it road tested by trans . specialist . As mileage gets up , you got to expect the odd rattle / noise etc . Obviously if it got worse , then worth checking further .

Dust on the splines where the drive shaft goes into the trans can sometimes cause this type of whine. Spray liberally around there with WD40 and see if it makes any difference. It might also be a noisy solonoid which may or may not eventually fail.
