Re: Some great old tunes .

This is one of my fav's from the 50's. Notice the crisp tone coming from the all tube amps of yesteryear? Love it!

Re: Some great old tunes .

53 years ago , how time flys . A good tune always survives no matter how long . See what you mean with the tone !! but just adds to it . That was probably the best sound equipment of the day then . Years ago I was going to get one of those set ups that let you copy your old Lp vinyls onto different formats and also clean up and remove all the noises , scratches etc . Then I thought , they wouldn't be the same , just listen to the way they were when made .

I bought a usb turntable and the software to convert and clean vinyl to digital format, and I agree, its not the same without the static and pops. Also I think music that was originally intended for LP sounds better than on CD format. The Beatles is a good example.

Re: Some great old tunes .

That was the thing I was looking at , a convertor . At that time they were quite expensive but now they are next to nothing to buy . When the house is empty I sometimes did out the Beatles compilations and have a listen , those were the days .

Re: Some great old tunes .

I've been thinking about doing some sort of name that tune on here. Maybe post a small snippet of a song in video format but it has to be done right or youtube will recognize it and post the artist and title.

How far back can you go when it comes to music? Myself I know a lot about the 50's through the 80's. I know some 90's on through today but not like the older stuff.

Re: Some great old tunes .

The 50's through the 80's would also be my best eras , modern day music I'm lost with to be honest .On my football team supporters forum we often get posters asking " what was that tune or name of tune " that so and so sang , maybe from a movie or an ad .Some of us older decrepit members have trouble remembering our names but tunes seem to stick in the memory . What was the question again !!!!!!! See what response you get with it , count me in .
