Some more info on Tanner and his Rally cross racing.
The ultimate test of driver and machine, Rallycross is an action-packed blend of circuit racing, off-road racing and rally. Drivers line up in heats of up to six cars for a hard-hitting race over a challenging short course featuring jumps, unbanked turns, hills and transitions between pavement and gravel.
In 2010, Tanner became the first American ever to compete overseas in the FIA European Rallycross series. He was an immediate threat in a campaign that took him to Portugal, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, and Czech Republic. In the United States, he took a pair of gold medals at the X Games Rally competitions, and finished on the podium at all four of the inaugural US rallycross races to claim the first US Rallycross Championship ttile. This year, Tanner will take his Rockstar Energy-etnies Ford Fiesta overseas for a full European Rallycross schedule, and he will participate in the US rallycross championship season.
Tanner has to be one of my most favorite racers, not only because he drives a Ford, but because he not only does Rally cross.
He also does:
He also does driving for T.V shows and magazines.
Redline TV, Import Racers
, RM Auctions
and Auto Access
And if this isn't enough for you, check out how he got started.
Growing up in a navy family, Foust spent several years as a child in Scotland where he discovered rally racing and learned to drive on the country roads near his home. He returned to the US and went into a pre-med track at the University of Colorado, earning a biology degree. He spent his summers at the track, trading seat time in racecars for mechanic work and driver coaching jobs. After college, he began working as an ice driving coach, an instructor at automotive marketing events and competing in anything he could, including rally and drifting. He made the transition to professional racing in 2003, and soon moved to California to begin stunt driving for Hollywood films. With his tireless passion for cars, he has rapidly become one of the busiest professional drivers in the US. He considers himself fortunate that, in only seven years of professional racing, he has had the opportunity to compete against the likes of Rod Millen, Colin McRae, Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel.
Don't miss it on T.V, Tanner will be racing soon. I think sometime around June 8th on VS's.
EDIT: Ken Block is also another driver that I like too, I wouldn't say he is as good as Tanner, but their driving style's are different.
Check em out. He race's for Monster World Rally Team. http://monsterworldrallyteam.com/home
