Re: Golf : Long putters to be banned .
Tiger Woods backs the ban like a lot of pros .
TIGER WOODS has backed golf’s rulers after they announced plans to crack down on putting ‘cheats’.
The game’s law-makers will ban players from anchoring long putters against their bodies from 2016.
Open champion Ernie Els admitted using the body as an anchor point was a ‘form of cheating’.
But American Keegan Bradley, who used a belly putter on his way to the 2011 USPGA Championship, has vowed to take legal action in a bid to keep using the method.
However, Woods supports the ban.
He said: “I believe that the art of putting is swinging the club and controlling nerves.
“We swing 13 other clubs — the putter should be the same.”
