Read 3.8L FI 6CYl Specifications

Here are some specifications for the 3.8l FI 6CYl Thunderbird.

. Battery group size - 58
. Brake fluid - dot 3 or 4
. Coolant mix - 50/50
. differential fluid type - HPHypoid gear oilWeight = 90
. oil weight - 5w-30
. Exhaust manifold bolts - 15-22 Foot pounds of torque.
. fuel pressure - 30-45 PSI

Head torque spec/ sequence:

Torque Sequence --------------------------Front | 7 3 1 5 |Of | 8 4 2 6 |Engine --------------------------Step 1 - Torque to 15 ft/lbs Steps 2 - Torque to 30 ft/lbs Steps 3 - Torque to 37 ft/lbs Steps 4 - Torque to 59 ft/lbs Perform following 3 steps on each bolt, before moving to next bolt in sequence.1) back off 2-3 turns2) if long bolt: Torque to 30-37 ft/lbsif short bolt: Torque to 15-22 ft/lbs3) turn 175-185 degrees Proceed to next bolt in sequence Recheck final torque in sequence Caution:Engine uses torque to yield head bolts (TTY)that permanently stretch during initial installation.New head bolts must be used when cylinder head is replaced or re installed to obtain proper torque specification.

. Hub bearing - 250 Ft/Lbs, Same for rear.

Intake bolt torque - Tighten in 3 steps: Step 1: 7.5 FT Lbs Step 2: 15 FT Lbs Step 3: 24 FT Lbs(to torque bolts & nuts, start in center using crisscross pattern)

Interference motor? - non interference.
. Main bearing cap - 65-81 Foot pounds (Final torque)
. Spark plug gap - .054
. Valve cover - 7-9 ft/lbs
