Lightbulb 97 Ford Probe - ECU RESET

I had to replace my battery. My car was sitting in the drive way for a bit longer than I had expected... So I had to replace the battery, and run the engine. Obviously, in order to get my car registered, I needed a smog for my probe...

The problem I'm having, is, I've driven it for almost 175 miles, and still, the scanners aren't conducting a response to o2 and catalytic issues...

I mean, the catalytic converter is brand new, not sure about the o2.

By any chance, has anyone else experienced long duration's with ecu reset?

If so, how long do you think I should drive before testing again? I drove 2 day's in a row, about half the mileage per day...

I was thinking to try 50 more miles, and just keep trying every 50 miles, in order to not waste gas.

I just was wondering, if anyone had experienced long ecu reset's like this b4, let me know if you have any idea's or what works.

Even if Idling the car will help, I'd like to know if that can speed things up.

Also, if anyone could tell me, what some decent speaker's for a good price are, that would be really help full. I want to upgrade the speaker system, just enough for like a clean sound. The stock system kind of sucks,

Let me know what you think!

Visit www.crutchfield.com, enter your vehicle details and see what available. Myself, I've had good luck with Kicker speakers.

I'll let someone more knowledgeable help you with your other issues.

Would have thought it would have reset in a fraction of that time / mileage .

Never, never, never give up.

Re: 97 Ford Probe - ECU RESET

This is for a Mazda 6 which I believe is the same set up, might help

After you reset the ECU, you should also start the ECU relearn process:

Place transmission in neutral
Ensure emergency brake has been set and all accessories have been turned off.
Start engine and bring to normal operating temperature
Allow vehicle to idle in neutral for one minute
Initial relearn is complete: process will be complete during normal driving.

The total relearn process takes about 40 key starts to complete

Never, never, never give up.

I'm definitely going to try doing this. I had a funny feeling that it may just be an altercation in how many times started... I even questioned, if the computer some how had a calendar issue, maybe over a week or something. But this seems more sensible, especially due to the year of the car.

I drove, another 150 miles since this, and I just tried again and it wasn't passing. So, I think if I do this, maybe 20-30 more times... It could fix it. I'll give it a shot, and a decent pull tomorrow and see what happens.

I just got my new seat covers, This is what it looks like so far... I gotta trim fix that faded edge thing, gonna repaint some things. Things been sitting in my drive way for too long, and I couldn't help but wanna fix it up a bit.
