I would say generally no, there are too many of them around and lets face it not a breakthrough in automotive design or technical features. However in years to come who knows, for the right person who likes the look, and I for one still like the look of my AU2 XR8, and still rate the performance, might just pay a bit more than market value for one.

AU3 220XR will one day be the most sort after of all the AU XRs

The last of the 5L Windsor engines worked by Tickford. They'll be worth something in the future as they are now.. There very hard to come by at the moment & will get harder to get as time goes by..

I hope my AUII XR8 220Kw falls into that category.
It's got every option:
Momo wheel & shifter, sunroof, premium brakes, premium sound, leather seats, body kit, pacemaker extractors and 3" exhaust finishing out back in factory looking dual pipes. All finished in liquid silver and the best part it is a 5 speed manual. Good for about 245Kw at the flywheel and keeps up with an XR6 turbo easily. The sound from the exhaust above 3000 rpm is spine tingling though which is worth bottling.
I might offload it later this year.

I want to die like my Grandfather did .... in his sleep. Not like the other passengers in his car at the time who were yelling and screaming....

I think the 220kw XR8s will be collectable in the same way that an ED XR8 Sprint is today. (ie you still pay $10k for a straight one). Its the last 302W in any factory production car anywhere, hand built "traditional V8" motors with the builder's signature on a placard and the last cars made by Tickford all add up to collectable status in my opinion. At the very least they'll hold their value very well.

In fact, I just bought one! (AU2 220kw auto) for $14k - a performance car bargain or what?

Hello,

In time, I would think so. As they are not a sought after car, they are cheap and go, many will be crashed, stolen for parts and raced. After a while, you will think "gee I havnt seen one in ages", so a good original put away now will be an investment. What is good original GT worth now ?
