**Warning** FPV are taking notes

For anyone that's thinking about modding their BA GT, think twice about trying to hide it. If you get your car serviced at a Ford dealer, they're under strict instructions to report ANY mods directly to FPV. FPV are keeping a tab on cars and mods so chances are, if you go too wild and try claiming on your warranty, your mods will come back to bite you. They won't be unrealistic about things, but some mods have a higher "rating" than others. Having a good relationship with you dealer won't cover you any more. So be warned, unless of course you couldn't care less about warranty, in which case I say "mod to your heart's and your pocket's content".
Cheers.

P.S. If this is old news just ignore this whole thread.

Re: **Warning** FPV are taking notes

I will go a little further here, to some extent thats rite, it appers that FORD, have been working on a new Warranty wording for some time, ive known about it for some time. Its not that bad, lets say just clearing up the grey areas, basicly turning grey into black and white. It is true on the fact of that mods have to be reported to Ford, but they arnt to concerned about the basic things that are not causing too much trouble. Cold air intake is not a major issue, but a chip is, as its tampering with the computer, which is actualy doing alot more to things of the running of the car, than most people are aware of.
I think Ford are more interested in certain cars and certain people who seem to have, well lets say, more problems than most.
I have had plenty of problems with mine, never have i been refused something to be fixed, I believe this sort of thing works both ways, dont go overboard, and they will look after you if you have a genuine claim. I do believe its up to you to establish a good relationship with your dealer, then it should not be anything to worry about.

HOLDEN Adventra LX8, Martini Mica, Ochre leather, mods comming soon, and loving it!!!!
HOLDEN ASTRA CD, Ultra Blue, Skaife kit, manual

Re: **Warning** FPV are taking notes

I agree about the dealer relationship bit Adrian but what I meant is that your dealer can only do so much for you. I think there are a few people who think FPV will just lie down and take everything. They won't. If you mod your car and go overboard , then try and claim on warranty, chances are you'll be politely shown the door.
I've never had a problem with claiming on warranty in the past, but they were faults not caused by mods. Ford have always been top notch with warranty claims.

So a chip thats edits your cars timing fuel ignition, that obvioulsy increases your cars ability and puts extra strain on your motor is fine (i think not. Staright away they should void your whole drivetrain warranty true?

Re: **Warning** FPV are taking notes

if your dealer dont report your mods nothing can happen Ford wont even know, as for the new warranty policy it cant be changed for people who already have a car so if you bought your car say eg:March O3 thats the warranty policy that apply's..not any new one they made up now...

It pays to have a good relationship with your Ford dealer especially if you can get your own technician to look after your car personally and im sure they are not going to worry about lowered suspension, exhaust, chip etc if it's been done by a reputable Ford enhancement specialist.

A suit and tie from Ford and my service manager said no warranty worries to my Herrod bits and pieces.

But they also told me they are watching all modded cars... (yawn)... but what surprised me was they mentioned FF without any prompts from me.

The suit reads FF... so a big hello and when are you gunna fix my tray liner!!!!
