Fuel Pump Test

I have a 1961 Ford Galaxie Victoria (box top) 2 Dr. Hardtop. When I bought it I was told it had a 1969 Mustang 302 c.i. engine and C4 trans. It sat with the fuel pump inlet hose disconnected for some time and I want to make sure the pump works. I put the inlet hose in a container of gas and the outlet hose in a empty container and cranked the engine for some time but nothing came out. I did this several times. I tried this with both the original pump and a Holly pump and I put white grease on the pump arm and it shows the cam is on the arm.

Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks, Gene

Re: Fuel Pump Test

You have to prime it by manually fill the carb bowls with fuel and starting the car.

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
