courier high idle

i have a 78 courier. the previous owner did not take great care of it. since buying it a few months ago, i have replaced most of the ignition system, taken care of the lubricants, replaced hoses(vacuum and cooling). i have also replaced the fuel pump(universal carb fuel pump) and the filter. i recently replaced the Tomco carb that was on it with a Vapex carb. i could not get the timing right after replacing the carb so i replaced teh timing belt. the timing is now dead on. now trying to fine tune the carb, (having the same issue as when i first replaced it), i cannot get the curb idle below 2k. any ideas?

Re: courier high idle

Butterflies fully closing? Smaller jets?

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
