  1. EB S/C and cold air intake

    General Tech
Since we're talking about XG's, I had an XR6 on LPG, cold air intake was done by removing air cleaner box, and replacing with a pod tucked right in behind headlight. Plus some sheetmetal mods, to open hole up behind light, and remove plastic shield on the headlight, and A/C receiver/dryer...
  2. Red faces at Ford over new model glitch

    The Pub
From memory Holden used to charge something like $50K per hour if a supplier stopped the line. Ford run their line at double holdens speed, so we guesstimate an hours stoppage would equate to $100K.

What I cant understand in all this is 12 months ago, $AUD around $0.46 US, and Oil $35 a barrel, that was the justification for $0.95 a litre here in SA. We're now sitting at $0.54US and $25~$30 a barrel, with no price reduction ??
  4. GoAuto drive impressions of VY

    The Pub
Notice how the mirrors are very similar to the AU / BA mirrors....
  5. Holden the bigest buyers of BARRA

    The Pub
The Auto company's have an agreement where they can buy the new releases just prior to public release and at greatly reduced prices. They're going to do it any way so makes sense to have agreements in place..

Ahhhh, Ford dont have a plastics department, they used to, but its now owned by Venture Industries, and is in fact Fords worst supplier. So to say you'd be working for Ford is incorrect. Don't worry about Quality issues with new cars, Ford are about the only company that now how to iron out...
  7. BA Interior Pic

    The Pub
Not sure if anybody has mentioned this yet, but from what I've seen of the VY bits and pieces, the centre finish on VY and BA are going to look very similar, as is the instrument bezel, and the seats........
  8. Last minute dramas for BA??

    The Pub
As said previously the new process is having some problems, previously Ford have had a plastic blow moulded fuel tank, but their new supplier is using a twin sheet thermoforming process, which has not been used before on fuel tanks (in a full manufacturing environemnt), and from what I can...
  9. Last minute dramas for BA??

    The Pub
Its more likely a problem with manufacturing the tank. The process is being used is a new process for manufacturing plastic fuel tank, and I have heard that the supplier is having a few problems, never the less , neither Ford nor the Supplier can afford for the issues to affect the BA launch...
  10. Series 1 BA - Would you buy?

    The Pub
Good point Russ, but the company making them, beat the company that I worked for (just...), and as I developed the package, and was all set up for trips to Europe etc to tool up, I suppose I have a reason to be emotional about this.....
  11. Series 1 BA - Would you buy?

    The Pub
I cant let this sort of comment go without replying.... Having worked in the Auto supply industry for a long time, between GM and Ford, the best built first up cars are Fords. Their proto development process allows the sorting out of the greater majority of parts prior to full volume production...
  12. Keeping a Boosted I6 Legal

    Inline 6 Tech
From what I can understand, when you remove the petrol system (including the tank), the RTA will remove the compliance plate related to ADR's that refer to emission control. Hence no need for any emission control. Thats what happens in SA at least... No Cat Conv.. No EGR and by removing the...

Have you done anything to the doors???, When putting in a new sound system I decided to deaden the door, and must have used about 2Kg of the brush on stuff per door, both on the inside of the outer skin, and on the inner skin as well, then block off the holes using 3mm MDF coated in bitumen as...

OK XF to come into the discussion. The maximum accelaration a vehicle is capable of at any speed is a function of the engine torque curve, and the available gear ratio(s). With a CVT I agree with Dennis , max acceleration will always occur when holding revs at max power during the acceleration...
  15. Welch plugs not the problem :(

Had same problem with my XG, at similar age....cost about $1300 first time fixed, $800 second time round
  16. BA model code designation

    The Pub
Question I have is, WHere have Ford defined the new car as BA? Cant see anything on Website, and in Adelaide the Advertiser called it the AY?..... Now had a closer look at website (through into webcasting area, and found references to BA) D'OH

Haven't you just contradicted yourself there ?, the Monaro came only after the VT was an established product, same with just about all other "hi-po" vehicles that are out there. WRX dressed up impreza EVO dressed up Lancer Monaro dressed up Commodore ( yeah I know its only got two doors but its...

    The Pub
Interesting thought on this is that Ford seem to change "species" when there is a significant platform change..eg "X" series seem to have been trees, E series birds, A series (not sure of the series Ibis and Grizzly seem to be stuffing up my theory here), AV called Barra, so could be classified...
  19. why barra

    The Pub
The "naming" policy of Ford is not used by either Holden or MMAL, the VY project was referred to as VY, VT was called VT, and the VE is called the VE (model after VY). from memory AU was called Ibis.... they like to use names to describe vehicles, probably helps give a warm fuzzy feel, rather...
