  1. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
Oil on dipstick looks ok. Not milky, or anything.
  2. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
Well, the new intake manifold is now installed. Yeah. No more coolant leak. I did have to tighten up the temperature sensors a couple of times to get them to stop seeping - but now there is no further leaking. I did have a bit of a scare after I got done and tried to start the engine. It would...

Good to know the brake fluid will evaporate..sure don't want anything degrading the gaskets on the new manifold. What 'converter' is present that would be inspected? Is it part of the transmission? Also, I just noticed that the new thermostat, that came with the new manifold, has an o-ring...
  4. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
Oh, and here is a picture of what failed on the old manifold. You can see a small piece of plastic that has broken, and is laying inside the aluminum port, which is just under the thermostat housing. You can also see a small piece of black gasket material - pushing out where that small plastic...

85ltd...No problems! After I got the old manifold off, I found all kinds of debris in the cavity where the bottom of the manifold sits. There were even pieces of acorns in the debris! I guess some kind of rodent must of carried them in there! Here is a picture of the debris...

I was just looking for a cheap intake that would stop the coolant leak. I am not going for performance. This is a point A to point B car. This car is going to become a backup soon anyways - if I can find a decent daily driver, at a good price. It has so much rust, and is using so much oil - that...
  7. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

I just realized my old manifold's crossover has two 8mm bolts in the crossover to hold the bracket in place, but I think the new one has has 10mm bolts - from the videos I've watched. My old bracket is used to hold the spark plug wires above the alternator, and not actually used to stiffen the...
  8. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

I've been able to verify my problem is coolant leaking out of the intake manifold, and into the #5 spark plug well. I can actually see there is green coolant that is seeping out from where the aluminum crossover sits on top of the black plastic base of the intake manifold. From there it drips...

Thanks. I was hoping that was what you thought.
  10. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Did you see the video I posted of my exhaust? I was wondering if you thought it looked like there was much oil burning going on there...
  11. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

I am losing a small amount of coolant. I think some, or all, coolant is seeping from under the intake manifold. So, you do not think that is burning oil? (I am adding a quart ever 500 - 600 miles).
  12. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
I drove it about 10 miles today, and it was smooth again. Although, I think maybe I just didn't hear any roughness since I had the heater on fill blast for the short 5 miles each way? I did check out autozone, and they had a set of duralast wires for about $52, which seem a fair price. I took...

    Around 213,000 miles!
  14. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
I'm not really sure. I've had the car for ten years, and I don't recall if I've changed the coil packs. I'd have to look through my receipts to be sure, as I sometimes lose track of what I've replaced. It's possible that they are original. I think I put in new plugs and wires when I bought the...
  15. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
So I pulled the other 4 plugs out. They look to be in good shape, and dry. I will try another, or a new plug wire, on #5 to see if that is causing the roughness.
  16. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
I suppose the wires could be wearing down. Maybe I'll get a new set, and just try that #5 wire that I've had off/on over a dozen times in the last few weeks. Say, after I tested those 4 plugs for spark last night, I started worrying about gas being sprayed into those 4 cylinders, as I did start...

Did the napkin look like it had coolant on it to you? Or oil? I managed to de-attach the rear part of the fuse box from the front part. But even then I could not see how to open it up and get the fuel pump relay out.
  18. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

So the weather warmed up to 30's today, and I was going to try a compression test on cylinder #5. I rented a compression test it from autozone. (Oreillys had the same type kit too). But once I realized it's basically a rubber hose with a rather short 14mm tip that screws into the spark plug...

BTW...Can you guys see the videos and pictures in the links I provided?
  20. Oil in spark plug well, but not on electrode. Where from?

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
I did pull the PVC out of the valve cover, and shook it, I heard it rattle so I assumed it was ok. Is that sufficient? Or si there more testing required on the line itself? I have not done a compression test. I'll have to rent that from autozone, or some place else. What compression is normal...
