  2. Home News Upgraded Mustang Shelby GT350R Picks Up New Chassis Technology From GT500 For More Fun On

    Ford Mustang Forum
I can't imagine how the "R" could be made to handle any better than my '17, but it's nice to know that development continues. This is the first car I have owned where I feel there is more car than driver.
  3. King ranch running hot

Ford F-Series | Ford Super Duty | Ford Diesel
    Is the coolant clean?
  4. Ford F450 "Steering on ice"

Ford F-Series | Ford Super Duty | Ford Diesel
Are you absolutely certain that the 4WD is disengaging on the street? My '04 Excursion transfer case once "stuck" in 4WD and the truck wandered on pavement (not as bad as yours) I replaced the transfer case solenoid and all was well when back in 2WD. A real clue is tire wear. ( As you know...
  5. Coolant reservoir tank overflowing

    Ford Mustang Forum
No idea why the problem would start now (warmer weather?) but replace the tank and keep a close eye on the coolant level and temp gauge. I would also consider replacing the thermostat and flushing the coolant, an inexpensive and easy maint. item.
  6. Coolant reservoir tank overflowing

    Ford Mustang Forum
You have already diagnosed PART of your problem. Your cooling system, including the tank, is under pressure when the engine reaches operating temperature. If the tank is broken, then it will leak when it gets hot. However, a much larger problem is why the tank broke in the first place. It...
  7. problems with power

Ford F-Series | Ford Super Duty | Ford Diesel
I would be politely skeptical of a mechanic who keeps a truck for two months. Ask the mechanic how he determined that your O2 sensors were "working fine". Also, can you elaborate on the "no power" problem. Does the truck move but just not have the power you expect. What did the mechanic say...
  8. ReKreating The Famed Ford 289 K-Code V8 — Part I

    Ford Mustang Forum
Great build! I remember how much work was involved adjusting solid lifter cams, and they do not provide any additional HP over modern tech hydraulics, but OH do solid lifter small blocks sound good! I will never forget the first HP solid lifter 289 (love at first sight orange '66 FB Mustang) I...
  9. 4" wheel spacers on 95' f150 4wd

Ford F-Series | Ford Super Duty | Ford Diesel
We used 1.75 spacers on my son-in-laws F 150 and lost a front wheel bearing about a year (guessing 10,000 miles) later I didn't even know 4" spacers were made, but I would keep a close eye on wheel bearings and steering geometry if you install them. 4" is pretty extreme. Additionally, I would...

  11. 98 Crown Vic valve clatter on acceleration

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
    Yes, that was FYI only.
  12. 98 Crown Vic valve clatter on acceleration

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
'02 Gran Marquis and '05 CV have knock sensors. They are well hidden on the block under the intake manifold.
  13. 98 Crown Vic valve clatter on acceleration

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
Before you can deal with it you need to determine if it's "valve clatter" or an ignition problem. I don't recall when knock sensors were first used in Mod engines, but I would not overlook a defective knock sensor as a possible cause of ignition problems.
  14. 08 GM (120K): Cooling fan fail results in head gasket leak? WWJD ??

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
Hard to believe, but the biggest problem I seem to have is disconnecting the @#$#%%& Ford plastic electrical connectors when pulling the engine! Be patient, they are hard to replace. And yes, a CV engine pull is done the old school way, remove the hood and pull the eng and trans out through...
  15. 08 GM (120K): Cooling fan fail results in head gasket leak? WWJD ??

Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Marauder, Grand Marquis
HAVE HELP, double check everything and lift slowly. Everything is straight forward and if you take your time you can do a better job than a shop which is always in a rush. Take before photos just in case. Also, with the engine out, you will have the opportunity to clean and inspect all...

There probably would not have been a Mustang if not for Iacocca's efforts.

  19. Mustang Shelby GT500: Let’s Talk About The New Rotary Shifter

    Ford Mustang Forum
I know the GT 500 is faster, but is it more FUN than my GT 350 R? Thank you, but I'll crunch my own gears. The 350 has more power than I can handle anyway and the 500 would really get me into trouble. But wait! I wonder how much a new 500 costs? Hum! My wife is going to be mad when she...
