I picked my Ute up from the dealer they were doing some warranty work the brake shudder, went the service desk.
Guy there said that I had a charge of $18 asked what for,
He said you have a loose aftermarket extractor bolt
Then I said $18 to tighten a loose extractor bolt I said that’s crazy
Then the service guy said sorry mark we didn’t tighten it
I said why not
He said we can’t get our hand in there so there’s no way I can get a spanner in there.
I said but why are you charging me $18 then.
He said for the diagnoses.
Anyway after I bit of rambling he agreed to drop the charge.
I do like my dealer’s service centre been really good, always given me a good loan car maybe this dude had a bad day…
I rang Herrod's they think maybe they have to pull my engine out to tighten that bolt.
Rob said it’s never happened before he’s going have a look at it on Friday.
And he said if I need a car, he will loan me his Ute..

I've found dealers to be better at newer cars that the local mechanic... I don't like using my cars as an education piece for the local mechanic. Sometimes, paying extra at the dealership can save you $$$$. That's why I take each of my cars to different businesses, as they specialise in different types of cars.

Jack of all trades = master of none!!

Last month KNOX FORD wanted $44 for that.
I told them to get stuffed.

XRFPV8? Did you know that the bolt was loose? Did you inform them of something along the lines and ask them to fit it? Obviously the exaust isnt warranty as it is a herrod one, but what I find strange is if you didn't tell them about anything why would they diagnose it? They can only look for what the customer complains. I would have told them to shove it up their arse.

No I didn’t know the bolt was loose, I asked for the car brake shudder & power steering TSB to be done I rolled out about 10 different things just so they would check them like cooling system, ticking noise, moldings fixed .got it all checked over because I am not paying them $200 odd for the 1st service for a oil change...look if had a hole in my exhaust and the service department found that hole would they still charge me $18,
I think not, just because the its a after market bolt that’s worth $18. no way.
Footnote- Went to Herrod's today they tightened the bolt up took about 15 minutes all done soon as I turned up, strait up on to the hoist...
