1966 (Galaxie) Voltage Regulator Wiring

Hi, I have a 1966 Galaxie V8 and voltage was jumping around (I have a guage). I put in a new Voltage Regulator and the guage has settled right down 13.8 at idle approx. My issue is that the ALT light on the dash stays ON even though it’s charging? I checked all connections at the Alternator and the V.R. Connector looks ok. There is a short Yellow lead coming out of the V.R. Connector with some type of end on it but does not appear to connect to anything? Does anyone have any ideas? I have the wiring diagram and it shows the Yellow wire as “152” but no idea what it is??

Have to checked all the wires going to the alternator? If there isn't any broken ones wiggle them around while you're watching the gauge and the dash light

Hi, Thanks for your idea (I need all that I can get!). I did check the wiring. I put a large mirror on the front seat so I could see the dash lights while I was checking the wiring harness. Nothing seemed to affect the ALT light. I then decided to let it run for a while and all of a sudden the ALT went out??? All the time my guage has been rock steady at close to 14V. Now when I first turn turn the ignition ON (without starting) the ALT light stays OFF. As a matter of fact, it never comes on. I checked the bulb and it’s ok. I think that the ALT is supposed to be on until the engine starts. I may remove the belt and start it up to see what’s happens.

It acting the way it should be. Leave it alone before there's another problem. Like the old saying IF IT'S NOT BROKE DON'T FIX IT
