Hey all. I have a 1998 mercury mountaineer with 127,000 miles on it. My ex drove it and probably had NO respect for it at all. Anyways upon getting it back it now has a major issue. It will idle fine for as long as you leave it idoling but as soon as I take off in it, it makes it maybe 30-45 seconds, temperature gauge shoots to hot very fast then it shakes and stalls. It will not restart for at least 30 minutes. I am pretty sure he blew the head gasket but I’m not sure. I have looked and looked online but I haven’t found anything on this in particular. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be great. Thanks!
