2000 Crown Victoria overheats

Hey again y’all
Finally got a chance to finish the Crown Vic
Now it runs great
It’s a 2000. Got the 4.6 Windsor with 115,000 miles
Last month the intake manifold cracked and flooded the engine compartment
I replaced the intake manifold plugs coils crank cam and temp sensors
The ECU was also dead and it was replaced and flashed
New thermostat and coolant
It’s running great except now the temperature gauge is flat lined at the cold end
After about 15 minutes or so of driving it’ll peg out on full hot with the light blinking and beeping
Then it’ll be boiling over
Next day same thing all over again
I thought maybe the free thermostat was sticking and replaced it along with more fresh coolant
Same result
Possibly a bad water pump or the radiator is plugged?
It does squeak a little at idle but the belt is new as well
Thanks for any advice
Chris

Might want to run a pressure check on the cooling system first.
I assume you have the thermostat installed with the spring on the bottom? (sorry, have to ask...seen a few that were installed upside down)
Water pump could possibly be an issue, or maybe an air bubble (uncommon due to the little pilot valve in the thermostat, but if the new one doesn't have it, then a real possibility)

These are just a few things offhand.

Thanks Dave
Yes the little guy is in the right way
The system is definitely holding pressure
No sign of a leak and the oil is good and clean with no sign of water in it
I’m thinking maybe the water pump died too or the radiator is plugged up
Weird that it started this only after the intake was replaced
Thanks again
Chris
Just throwing a few other suggestions out here:
Serpentine belt routed properly? Those are another thing that can be easily messed up. Can cause the water pump to run backwards.
If good, then you may have to remove and check the water pump and radiator.

Yes the belt is routed properly
It was replaced a month or so before the intake was replaced with zero problems
Guess I’ll be pulling the pump and radiator
Carry out a block test . " the oil is good and clean with no sign of water in it " depends where a head / gasket is leaking , blown whether the coolant mixes with the oil or not

Thank you for your reply
I’m going to look at the water pump and radiator
I put a water pump on about 10 years ago
I think it’s odd that it had no trouble running hot until the intake cracked
It didn’t even run hot even when the intake blew out
But it only went maybe 1/4 mile to the house so I don’t think it got hot enough to do anything serious
I would think that it would show signs of a leak even before the intake cracked but it never ever did and held a constant temperature at all times
