My 2003 Escape XLT has a trouble code of P0403, the EGR system. I have changed out with new parts, the entire system, all 3 components. Ive cleaned the tube to the plenum I've even changed the plenum gaskets and I can't get the Check Engine Light to turn off so I can smog it. I've reset the computer , nothing works. WTF is going on. Does the Catalytic converters have their own code if they were the issue? Please help.

While the Escape is old enough to have concern over the cat, I don't think the cat is the problem. Unfortunately, there's not a real diagnostic that will point to it definitively, there are symptoms, particularly the engine bogging and losing power. P403 is more of an electrical diagnostic. Look to your wiring and grounds.
