A 2017 Ford GT has finally crossed the auction block without interference from the automaker's legal team, fetching $1.54 million at Barrett-Jackson's recent Las Vegas event.

The company required original buyers to complete an extensive application process, giving priority to vetted Ford enthusiasts and existing collectors of prior GT models.
Buyers were contractually prohibited from re-selling their new GT for 24 months, prompting a lawsuit against pro wrestler John Cena after he allegedly violated the re-sale restriction.
The Las Vegas no-bid auction presented a '66 Heritage Edition, which sold for triple its original selling price after sitting in a collection for just two years. The dollar figure will presumably inspire other GT owners to consider parting ways with Ford's latest supercar.
