Does anybody know if Ford Cast any 289 Windsor Block's in 1967? If so...did the casting number start with C7?...or were they lazy and just started them with C6 still from the last year.thanx...Luke!!

In the US the 289 Windsor started in 1963 I believe. I will have to check on that, give or take a year. Give me a few hours and I will be home from work and can check on the casting numbers too.

the C certainly dictates a 1960's decade build
I would have to say the 7 indicates that its 1967.

The next 2 digits will tell even more..auto/manual and a few things related to induction and electrical.

If i recall correctly the 289 was discontinued in the states in 1968, with the introduction of the 302 as the base 8

The connecting rods retained a C3 1963 casting number through the entire run of 289's, or so I have heard. The 289 rods in my wife's 1968 289 had C3 on them. As Lukeh said it was replaced in 1968 with the 302, though there were a few 1968 289's produced too.

If its in the car, you will need to remove the Starter to read it.
Once you see it, it will be obvious how to read it.....first 4 in the series.
