can anyone tell me when building a 347 stroker if there are any other options of pistons and rods that are cheaper than the recommended 5.4 rod length

you could get yourself a eagle stroker kit, they're pretty good in matters of bang for your buck, they're about 1200 bucks for a complete assembly but less then that is pretty doubtful i'm afraid

the 331 uses a 5.4 rod and 3.25 crank , this allows the piston to have the pin further down over the 347 kits, some of hte 347 strokers have oil burn problem due to the pin going thru the oil ring.

you can find stroker kits for around 700-1300 on E-bay. They are usually the eagle brand, but there are other. I am considering converting my 302 in my 78 cobra II to a 347 stroker as well. Just gotta get the funds

Hi.

I made a 347 from a 289 last year, i put in an Eagle kit with the 5,4 rods 4334 crank and forged SRP pistons. with 351 w heads with big stainless valves, some porting, a set of tri y hedders, a mallory unilite distributor, Edelbrock single plain intake and an Edelbrock 650 carb with manual choke.

This works fine, sofar i have had about 1000 miles of pure pleasurecruising in the car, 1966 Galaxie 2 dr. HT, and there have been no problems. :driver: :priest: :hy:

The kit was easy to install, The guys at Eagle was very nice and when i snapped a pistonring, they told me "no problem we will ship a couple of rings pronto" so as you can tell i am very pleased with Eagle, the product and the service.

So as soon as i find a 1964-1968 mustang convertibleproject, i´ll build another strokerengine, this time a 427 BOSS setup on a 351w block.. :hy:

You use a 302c crank. But the costs are up there. The Scat/Eagle kit form I'd say would be the best bang for ya buck.
