ok guys i am planning a 5.0 litre conversion into my car..
i really want the efi windsor out of a eb-el xr8 but i im not sure..a carbied 302 would be much cheaper but i want the reliability of efi...what one would you choose?

also what will this conversion involve? i mean, the LTD's in my model have a 5.0 so does that mean the engine bays are pretty much the same?

any suggestions/help/critisism is very much appreciated
thanks
john

Ford had Dropped the V8 in easter of '83...so no V8's in the late XE/XF/ZL and FE LTD Models...

there are issues with the heater pipes and firewall clearance when fitting V8's...but ive heard that a carby cleveland v8 will fit without any mods to the heater pipes or firewall...somebody care to conform this??

Carby Windsor will fit without having to move the heater pipes, but a Cleveland will never fit without moving the pipes.

Personally I think it would be worth the extra problems fitting the EFI 5.0L, I have seen an QLD rego'd XF ute fitted with a stock pollution carby 5.0L, wasn’t anything special, but this was where I found out with a carby model the heater pipes don’t need moving.

Go the EFI way, even if you fit gas the EFI intake would work better than a carby intake unless you want to spend some dollars.

efi is what i really want..its just the money factor..i might have to do some more research, and talk to some workshops.

just get an approximate price range and start saving...
