I was just wondering what everyones opinion was on the old 5.0L engine and the new 4.6L engines and which one would most of you choose to use to modify and drag race with?? I just want opinions, so keep it clean and don't start talking any trash.
Well, the 5.0L has alot larger following right now than the 4.6L because it's been out for a while and their is a HUGE aftermarket for the 5.0L. But give it time and the 4.6L will have an aftermarket just as big and will be just as popular as the 5.0L is. But personally right now I think that the 5.0L is the engine to modify.
Down here in Australia we don't have much choice. We still use the 5.0 in our Falcon and will continue to do so untill late 2002. Ford Aus bought the last 10000 units to get them through to the new motor which is rumoured to be an all new 5.4. In the early stages the 4.6 from the mustang was thought to be our replacement donk but it fell out of favour with management down here because of the displacement compared to the Chev Ls1 that is in the Falcons competitor, the commodore. The 4.6 is said to rev freer then the 5.0 but does not have the bottom end torque.
i'll take the 5.0 any day. much cheaper to build and easier to get performance parts. i have the 4.6 in my crown vic and i dont see any need to mod it. i'm happy with it being stock.
