nice!

i have the interior decor group in my pony as well. my brother helped me acquire a console for the car, so i have to get the manual transmission plate for it as well as the woodgrain inserts for it. my steering wheel needs some repair, but that's to be expected.

the engine compartment needs some cleaning up. take off the valve covers and paint them! ;) the holley is a nice touch, as is the intake (what kind is it?).

good job!

Sounds exactly like my interior/engine. The Valve covers need to be painted on mine and my steering wheel needs cleaning up. I was told that once I get the steering wheel fixed up, it will be worth over $1000! I was surprised.

I really like the holley that I have, except it is too large for my car. The one I have pushes 750 CFM and I need around a 550 CFM. I'd like to get another holley and I'll be probably looking to sell this one.

What size engine do you have? Do you have the same car? I'm interested to find more people with 66s so I can get ideas on things to do to improve the car.

Thanks for the comments.

james,

yes, i have a 1966 coupe. it is maroon with a black interior.

it has a 289 from my old '66. i also have a holley (4150)4-bbl double-pumper carb on it with 650cfm jets. if your carb is a 4150 or even a 4160, you can change the jets to run at 550cfm. even if it isn't, you may still be able to change the jets for the fuel flow you'd prefer. holley's are renowned for the ability to be customized, so you might not have to sell it.

hmm. a 289 bored to 302? doesn't sound right. it must be a 302 to begin with, because the stroke is different for the 302. they have the same bore as a 289.

yeah, i'm looking to finish up my resto on this car sometime this year. i need to pull the powertrain and begin rebuilding the motor. that will take the longest and it will give me plenty of time to get the bodywork done. i have to replace the fenders, hood, grille, and rear valance plus grab a set of new bumpers.

it's a lot of work, but that car is going to be sweet when i'm done! :D

Holley? Engine?

Yeah, I do have a Holley on there, BUT it's pushing 750 CFM! It's crazy! I know I"m burning too much fuel and I'm going to probably buy a new one tomorrow. I think I'm going to get a 600 or so. As for the engine, that is what I was told when I bought it. I talked to another Mustang guy about it and he said that it was possible. ?? I'm not really sure how to figure out. O well. I know the car is fast and I know putting this smaller carb on there it'll speed it up.

If I didn't already ask you, do you have any pictures of yours?

Talk to you soon.

Hey James Nice Car.

I guess I am biased though...............because that's my car if you put an automatic in it. Same color. Interior is identical. I have a modified 289 in it that the kid I bought it from had built. It has a Carter AFB 750 4bbl, Edelbrock intake, Hi-po heads and a cam. I still have the original heads, intake and 2bbl though. There is a little more difference in the cars. My interior is in the basement. So is the intake, carb, heads, lets see, uh, oh yeah.....The front suspension is still in the boxes in the garage. The carpet and headliner are still in boxes in the garage. Yeah, and I think I remember that the new floor pans are still in the boxes also. I guess it'll get there, right?

heh, sounds like it needs some work. :) You'll get there.

I actually still have a lot to do on my car. I just kinda make it pretty but it still needs some "hidden" work. I have to get the cowl replaced.... about a grand to do. I have to put the entire heating unit back in... which I have in the garage.

But that's all that "needs" to be done. However, there is TONS I'd like to do on mine. :) I know it'll never be "done" but what car is. heh.

I really like the three speed manual. It is really unique.

I really like my car. :)
