good day

l am working on a 84 6.9 v8
which suddenly stopped working about a month ago

l took off the air filter and noticed water in the intake (bad hood seal)
took out the glow plugs and squirted the water out

l appear to get fuel to the fuel filter (which l recently replaced)
and out of it...
(l am not sure what sort of flow to expect, but it isnt exactly blasting out)

but nothing from the injection pump (which l replaced)

the last person to trive the car remembers the tank selector switch acting strange --rather the fuel gage-
he switched tanks to check the levels, an dwhen he switched back the dial never came back up

my thoughts are the the line is cloged, or the fuel pump is failing

any hints or tips on trouble shooting would be much appreciated
as l am some what of a diesel novice
and several peole depend on this truck

First things first you have to have 3+ psi to the roosamaster/stanadyne injector pump for it to allow fuel into the pump. Second you should hear the shut-off solenoid in the pump click when you have someone turn the ignition on and off while you listen for it close to the pump. Third, is the pump turning? You can pull the top off of it and see the inside rotating if it is.

good day

turns out it was the wiring to the fuel shut off switch --
the temp sensor (for the high idle switch) was shorting out, and burned the fusable link

so now it runs, but l have to blead the lines to get it to cold start
obviously an air leak

any tips on finding it

thanks
