I've got an 86 cougar...came out with the 3.8 CFI. Well, need to replace the engine and I have another 3.8 layin around, HOWEVER....its the 3.8 SEFI.......plus.....its a FWD motor. Well,,,is it possible to use that block and use the intake and heads from the old motor, as they are still ok??
Stupid scenario....but just trying to see if anyone thinks this is feasable to mount the FWD block to a AOD Tranny....heh...

I don't see any reason why you could not use those parts. The tranny and the drive tran control the drive. So I am assuming that you are using a automatic transmission. I would think that you might be able to switch bell housings, not sure if that is the proper name for the section of the transmission that holds the pressure plate. I think the biggest difficulty will come in tuning the set up. There may be some different variances in the naturally aspirated verses the electronic fuel injection set up. It would definately be easier to use the naturally aspirated-carb-set up. I am not an authority on this and not much help I fear. Perhaps there are some users in the Tbird section that have done something like this as your year Cougar is the sister car of the Tbird for '86. Just trying to help! Hope it works out!!
