The chime that beeps when the door is open and the key in the ignition wont turn off when the bronco is running. With the ignition in the off position and the door closed the chime stops...but when I turn the key to the on position (and/or the start position)the chime continuously beeps. I have no clue why it does this or how it started...this morning is the first time its happend.

...any help would be appericiated

Thank you

yo,
from Keith in FSB Forums:
"This should be real easy up thru '91... at least it was easy on my '90. The key acts as a conductor and connects a circuit when in the key cylinder. Slide the key cylinder out by turning it to ON and then depressing the pinhole button on the bottom of the column. Once removed, then slide the key into the cylinder a couple of times, you'll see what triggers the door chime (or at least I did, but it's been a while so I don't remember specifics). Take pliers and forcefully remove the metal tab in question. Done..."
