Hi. hew to the forum but have a problem I've never experienced before. I just put a 9" in my 67 Avanti II, new bearings, ring and pinion kit and all. Not my first rebuild but my first 9".
The problem is that when i decelerate from 40 mph or so, it sounds as though i hve a can with a rock in it. Rattels like the devil. Thought at first a tailpipe rattle but its the rearend. took care setting it up, but don't know what's going on. OH, no whine or grumble on acceleration. old raatio was 2.75, new is 3.73.
thanks in advance
Chris

Sounds like you may not have shimmed it properly. Any weird noised in reverse?

No notisible in reverse but didn't go far in reverse. Had to remove shims to get pinion depth for mesh pattern. Preload seemed ok. This rear uses a crush sleeve. Thanks for the reply
