I recently replaced the cab bushings on my standard cab f150 4x4. To get this out of the way...I was a bone head and jacked the cab up 4 to 5 inches, drivers side then passenger side, without disconnecting linkages etc. Yes, a bonehead!!
All is now reassembled and during a test drive it was found my transmission was not shifting without my manual shift from D and 2 on the column. All was good before the project.
I could really use a list of what to check to resolve this issue. Thank you.

Check the vss is plugged in and test the mlps if you can.

Sorry for the delayed response. I work nights and have had little time off lately. I checked all connections in clouding the vss and mlps. I have verified all shifts a fully seated. I am not an electronics wizard, so I have not tested the manual over position sensor. I am thinking if just replacing it.
The tranny will shift from 1st to 2nd when a shift on the column. It has to be a sensor....
