Thanks took your advice now idles erratically and stalls when I touch the gas pedal ?

You probably have more than the one fault . It could be misfiring / dropping a cyl . causing it to run rough . You need to check the plugs , coil packs , MAF ( try cleaning ) , injectors , vac leaks and if needed , the compressions
