Hi all,

I have a 98 taurus that I was driving to work when suddenly strange noises came from under the hood. It sounded like clicking and then a springing noise. the engine then seemed seized up and wouldn't turn over it would just click. Within about 4 hours the battery was completely dead. I beleive the alt. seized up and wouldn't allow the motor to crank over and their is a short that fried my battery. Has anyone had this type problem and also how much of a task is it to change the alternator? It looks burried. I'm a pretty handy guy who works on cars alot but I hate the FWD side ways engines just for this type of thing.

Any and all help would be appericiated.

Thanks :bang:

Got a Duratec eh? The v8s are even worse.

No easy way to do it. But I take the wheel off, take the tire rod loose, move the brake line a bit, then drop the subframe on that side a couple inches.
