Mazda hit for 6
By David Berthon
The Sydney Morning Herald

The Mazda6 has finally bowed to discount pressure. With a January 1 price rise on some models, the discounts on 2003 stock have climbed to $2600.
Sydney's McGrath Mazda at Sutherland has reduced the basic manual sedan to $26,920 plus on-road costs. Its RRP rose by $650 to $28,920, with automatic transmission costing another $2000.

As with all Mazda6s, the base model is powered by a 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine.

The better-equipped Mazda6 Classic rose by a similar amount this year -- the manual sedan to $32,355, the manual five-door hatch to $33,355. Rockdale Mazda, also in Sydney, is now paring $2,355 from 2003-build Classic stock -- pay $30,000 and $31,000 plus on-roads respectively. Auto adds $2,000. Upgrades on the Classic over the Limited include cruise control, alloy wheels and a six-CD player.

The Rockdale dealer also has a $2500 saving on the Mazda6 Luxury sedan and hatch -- pay $37,770 and $38,770 plus on-roads. Upgrades include leather interior, six airbags, a sunroof, climate-control air-con and a Bose stereo system.

The range-topping Luxury Sports, with a body kit and fog lamps, has the best saving of $2600 -- pay $41,170 plus on-roads for the manual, $43,170 for automatic.
